Privacy Policy
Recipe Bee helps you collect recipes, plan meals, and share them with your hives. This policy describes the information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
When you register with a password, we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed password.
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier from Google, as shown on the Google consent screen.
We store the content you create, including recipes, meals, meal plans, shopping lists, photos, and hive memberships.
We record your IP address and browser user agent with each session, and use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use your information
We use your information to operate Recipe Bee. That means signing you in, storing and displaying your content, sending transactional email such as email confirmation, password reset, and account security notifications, and keeping the service secure. We do not sell your personal information and we do not show ads.
Recipe Bee's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google account information is used only to sign you in and create your account.
How your information is shared
Content you mark as shared with a hive is visible to that hive's members, and content you mark as global is visible to everyone. Beyond that, your information is shared only with the service providers that run our infrastructure for hosting, file storage, and email delivery. These providers process it on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Our current providers are Railway (application hosting), Amazon Web Services (photo storage and email delivery), and Google (sign-in).
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. To delete your account and its content, contact us at the address below and we will remove it.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes, and session cookies are HTTP only. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
Recipe Bee is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page.
